My Portfolio - Legoman
Note: most of the images in this section aren't rendered properly, like with proper lighting and whatever. At the time of rendering I had a pretty crappy, slow computer and rendering them properly would have probably caused it to explode. The images are good enough for now though.
Legoman was my first real 3D model. When I was quite new to the game I was pretty obviously pretty much crap at it, so I looked around for somethin simple to model when I found an old box of Lego in my bedroom. So I modeled Legoman.
At first he was just a normal Lego character, with simple arms and legs that have no elbow or knee joints, but I wanted to make him do fighting stances and at a later date even animate him. So I remembered Lego Technic and the figures that has, more complex figures with the elbow and knee joints that are more or less required for the characters movement. So I modeled a Lego technic style figure. With my first try I did make mistakes. Mistakes that looked kinda stupid and pretty much ruined the look of the whole character, so a few months later I revisited it and made another from scratch, not by making changes to the last model but a total rework, starting over with a clean canvas. What I ended up with is what you can view on this page.
Legoman isn't all on his own though. I didn't create him to be just a Lego figure, I created him because I love the idea that Lego can take such a simple figure as a Legoman and make it into anyone, make it look like anyone that they want so I wanted to do the same. I made Legoman so that I could recreate characters from my favourite movies/videogames/etc. And with this ability I have created characters so far from:
- The Matrix
- Devil May Cry
- Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children
- James Bond
- Superman
- The Transporter
- my fave band EVER ... Feeder
and with hopefully many more movie/game/etc characters coming in the future. So keep your eyes peeled and keep checking back to discover new characters.
