My Portfolio - Legoman - Lego Dante

This is Lego Dante. After making Legoman I couldn't go without making Dante. I love the Devil May Cry games and Dante is one of, if not my favourite game character ever. So here he is, Lego Dante in all his glory.

Just like the above image this one was based on a render to show off Dantes different costumes available for Devil May Cry 3. I got the original image from the official DMC3 website along with many other images of characters, enemies and weapons.

The reason behind making this image is simply that I felt like making more renders of Dante in poses. I was running out of decent poses though so I decided to use those from already existing images of Dante made for the games, like this one.

This image is made up of four renders of dante in different poses and is inspired by the Japanese ad campaign for Devil May Cry 2, specifically a scan of a magazine advert that I found somewhere on the net. The original image is very cool, although I'm unable to tell whether the images of Dante are drawn or 3D renders, either way I love the image so I thought I'd have a go at making my own version of it.

All of the poses you see here are pretty much the poses of the original image, however, Legoman is slightly limited in his range of movements so I can't make him recreate the moves exactly. I've done my best, although I'm not 100% satisfied with the coats at the mo so I might have a go at changing the look of them sometime. I rendered the four poses seperately and then arranged them together in photoshop, using the original image as a guide. The finished piece is (at the moment) at home on my desktop as wallpaper. I really like the image.

Another render inspired by an image from Devil May Cry 2. It features Dante who appears to be floating. The original is a cool pic and hopefully I've been able to capture that.

I like Dante's coat trailing behind him, although by trying to get the coat right - for it to show properly in the picture without me having to move the camera away from the angle its supposed to be at - I think I may have ended up making it too long. Now I think that if the coat were to come back to his sides he would probably end up tripping up on it. But oh well, it shows properly in the pic and if its too long who cares, at least it looks good. Well I hope it looks good, only you guys can judge that. Feel free to let me know if it does: email - guestbook :-)

Oh and by the way, before some Devil May Cry fanatic (thats not a bad thing) tells me that Dante hasn't got the right sword in this pic rest assured that I know that. The reason that he has the Rebellion from DMC3 and not the sword (I think of the same name) from DMC2 is that I haven't got around to it. I keep meaning to do it but to be honest I'm kinda putting it off - I have absolutely no reference pics of the sword, so I have no idea what it looks like. I could always trot off to my room and slam DMC2 into my ps2 but that would take too much energy. And besides, I can't be arsed to go through the game trying to get a good look at the sword. I'll do something eventually but right now I'm leaving it. If anyones got any pics of the sword that could help me out then please email them to me, I'd be very grateful. But like I said, I know he hasn't got the right sword but that will be rectified sometime, hopefully sooner than later.

These images were inspired by a picture made for Devil May Cry 2 which I first saw as a wallpaper available on the Official UK Playstation website. The first time I saw it I fell in love with the image and it stayed as the wallpaper on my desktop for a while even after DMC2 was released. I rediscovered the image the other day while I was scouring the computer looking for poses for me to recreate with Lego Dante and as soon as I saw the image again I knew I had to do it, and I think It's turned out quite well.

I first did it using Lego Dantes DMC3 outfit (the lower image) but I decided it would look alot better if I made the DMC2 outfit to go with it, so I did (the middle image). After I'd made the DMC2 outfit though, I thought I'd use the pose as a basis with which to show off all of Dante's costumes, so I made the DMC1 outfit and put it into the pose aswell (the top image). I think the DMC2 outfit does look alot better than the other two but then again it always has been my favourite look for Dante out of all the ones from the three games.

The background is an image I made using photoshop and I thought it would make a good background because it looks slightly like a demonic underworld kind of image, perfect for the DMC theme. I really like the images :-)

This image was inspired by a wallpaper I have from the fist DMC game of Dante in this pose. I've always liked the wallpaper so I thought it would be a good image to recreate. I think maybe the lightings a bit dark but on the original image Dante sort of fades out and until I find out how to properly make the lighting do that this will have to do. I like the image though, it's a good way of showing off my Ebony and Ivory models :-)
