My Portfolio
- Legoman - Lego Dante

This is Lego Dante. After making Legoman I couldn't go without
making Dante. I love the Devil May Cry games and Dante is one of,
if not my favourite game character ever. So here he is, Lego Dante
in all his glory.

This render is my first using Dante in his Devil May Cry 4 costume. I had the costume mostly done back in November after I saw the DMC4 trailer for the first time but it was missing a few details. Now, after stumbling upon the games official site the other day I decided to finish work on Lego Nero, who I also started back in November, and when I finished him yesterday I thought it was time to go back and finish Dante too.
The image maps are pretty much done, all except the detail on the buckle on his belt and those across his chest, but I haven't got any images that show them well enough so they'll have to stay like this for now.
This image started out as a showdown between Dante and Nero, with the main focus on Nero, but I ended up putting Dante in a pose that I liked so much that I had to do a render, and this is it. I really like it. |

This image is simply a drawing
in Illustrator of a render done with Lego Dante back in March.
The drawing took wasn't that difficult to do, simply time
consuming, taking a couple of days to complete. I like it
though.
The original render can be seen on the next page (click
here).

This image was based on a render
that I, once again, got from the official DMC3 website and
that I decided to copy the pose from to show off my new model
of Dante's Rebellion equipped devil trigger state.
I decided to have a go at making Dante's devil trigger because
I thought that Lego Dante wouldn't be complete without something
to properly represent his demonic side. I did originally want
to have a go at making his DT as it was in the second game
(due to my most used Dante costume being the one from that
specific game and the fact that the DT in that game looks
so damn cool) but, although I have a few, I haven't got any
images that show it in any detail so even though I could probably
have a go at it I wouldn't really be able to make it to look
how its suppsed to. I wouldn't be able to do it justice, so
I thought I'd go for second best (never a good thing in any
other situation) and made Dante's DMC3 DT instead. But it
don't matter, its ended up looking cool anyway. I'm just not
sure if I'll be able to use Dante's DMC2 costume as undemonified
(if theres any such word) Dante in any images where I might
use this alongside. I'll probably have to stick with the proper
DMC3 costumed Dante when used with this DT :-( Oh well, I
guess I'll have to wait till I can come up with some decent
pics of the DMC2 DT that would allow me to properly have a
go at making it. Its gonna happen though, come on, do you
doubt me? DMC2 DT will become legofied sometime, sooner or
later its gonna happen.

This image was based on a render
of Dante for Devil May Cry 3. I don't quite know what purpose
the render initially served but its on the back of the cardboard
slip-case I got for preordering the game and could possibly
be in the game manual aswell (but don't take that for certain).
I first saw it on the official DMC3 website though, in the
section where you can download loads of renders of the games
characters, enemies and weapons.
If some of you are thinking that its a bit weird to have
a Dante in DMC2 costume recreating a pose from the third game
instead then I can just say that I think the pose is a cool
one and because I prefer the DMC2 costume, both for Dante
in the games and for Lego Dante, I decided to use it instead
of the DMC3 one. It doesn't matter though really, I think
its a cool pic no matter what costume Dantes wearing.
One difference you may (or maybe not) notice on Dante in
this image compared to the other images on this page is that
hes got a new collar. His old collar was just an image map
wrapped around his neck and I didn't think it really looked
right, so after making Lego
Cloud, who has a collar that I couldn't really do anything
about other than to model it, I thought I'd go back and do
the same with Dante. The collar is actually pretty much an
exact copy of the one on Cloud but it still looks good :-)

This image was based on a render
to show off Dantes different costumes available for Devil
May Cry 3. I got the original image from the official DMC3
website along with many other images of characters, enemies
and weapons.
The reason behind making this image is simply that I felt
like making more renders of Dante in poses. I was running
out of decent poses though so I decided to use those from
already existing images of Dante made for the games, like
this one.
