I made this wallpaper late/early on a january night/morning. My sister was home from uni over christmas and just before she had to go back she ended up staying up all night revising for exams. That had absolutely nothing to do with me, but staying up all night seemed to be contagious and one night I stayed up until about noon the next day just messing about on the computer and listening to the radio. Inbetween downloading songs that I heard on the radio and watching a couple of programs on tv this wallpaper was the product of that night/morning.

The background image is a water/lightning image that i really like and took me a while to create. It was made with a tutorial that I found somwhere on the net, but it actually took me a while to make a finished piece that I liked. I then created the boxes around the image of Vivi that I placed in the middle. Each layer of the image has a different opacity and overall I think it all adds to the image, and makes it look cool.

If anyones wondering why I chose the subject of the wallpaper, it's because at that moment in time I was really into Final Fantasy, which was mainly due to the fact that I was playing through both IX and X, and I really like Vivi. He's a cool character, and although he's so small he's got this incredible power, it's just wicked.

These variations were created by just selecting certain parts of the image of Vivi (i.e. a certain colour from the ring of fire), deleting the unselected parts and placing the colour that was left over the blue layer of the original image. I think it makes a good highlight which I really like. I think I'll end up using the same effect in future images.
